Fort Massey United Church Women (UCW) groups have been in existence since 1962. Some of the community groups that are recipients of the Fort Massey UCW are: Brunswick Street United Church Program, Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank, Salvation Army and Arthur Kidston Camp.
Our local church family is also supported by the UCW. This includes providing seasonal gift bags to shut-ins, flowers in the sanctuary and refreshments for Coffee and Conversation times following worship.
Other Outreach Projects
Fort Massey keeps its deep commitment to the work of the Brunswick Street Mission through David Griffiths’ representation on the BSM Board. Members also contribute monetary donations in lieu of actual food-stuffs collected for their White Gift Sunday donations to the BSM Food Bank.
Other projects dear to the members of Fort Massey United Church are the Phoenix Youth Program, “shoe boxes” of comfort items to the Missions to Seafarers and the Dalhousie Monday Night Suppers.
At the church, we collect used postage stamps as a project to assist in raising funds for the Canadian Bible Society’s work in prisons, and offer space for outside groups such as AA, CA and Girl Guides.
